Patrick Henry (1736-1799) was one of many influential political leaders of the Anti-Federalist faction. He helped pass the Bill of Rights but directly opposed the Constitution as he believed it would infringe upon the rights of the individuals. In addition, he is noted for his exclamation of “give me liberty or give me death!” This quote exemplifies Henry’s views regarding a centralized government as opposed to states having full sovereignty.
