Federalists-Alexander Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton (1755-1809), the founder of the Federalist party, held the office of Secretary of the Treasury. Hamilton pushed for a stronger centralized government under the ratification of the Constitution which included implied powers as it justified the creation of a national bank. The rise of the anti-federalist party was in direct defiance of the steps taken by Hamilton to promote a strong centralized government over state sovereignty.
